Theatre Under the Stars at Stanley Park

A classic Vancouver entertainment experience returns this Summer as Theatre Under the Stars (“TUTS”) presents its 2023 season, featuring The Prom and Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical from July 6 – August 26, 2023 at Stanley Park’s Malkin Bowl.

Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) is an exceptional musical theatre company that offers live outdoor performances at Stanley Park’s Malkin Bowl. It’s located at 610 Pipeline Road near the Stanley Park Pavilion.

The theatre has been a Lower Mainland tradition for decades with performances from early July until mid to late August each year.

TUTS offers wonderful professional-quality shows and is definitely a best place to be in Vancouver for entertainment. We highly recommend you check it out.

Last year the theatre featured the musicals Something Rotten! and We Will Rock You. The two musicals ran from July 3rd until August 27th and they received outstanding reviews! In 2023 the musicals are Roald Dahl’s Matilda, which is about a mischievous young girl, and The Prom, which is about a group of Broadway actors.

Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical

Set in a small English village, Matilda, a brilliant little girl, is an avid reader with a lively imagination. But to her self-absorbed parents and tyrannical headmistress, she’s nothing more than a nuisance and a troublemaker.

Through the support of her kind teacher, Ms. Honey, and the strength of her whimsical storytelling abilities, Matilda uses her newfound magical powers to ‘fight for the right to be a little bit naughty.’

Featuring toe-tapping songs, outstanding dance numbers, and true theatre magic, Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is a fast-paced adventure perfect for the whole family.

About Theatre Under the Stars (tuts.ca)

Theatre Under the Stars celebrates 83 years of theatre in the crown jewel of Vancouver – Stanley Park. So much more than just a night at the theatre, TUTS interweaves a kaleidoscope of elements – setting, scenery, concessions, and quality art – into a fun, encompassing experience that is much greater than the sum of its parts. Nestled among awe-inspiring Douglas Firs, the company is uniquely suited to Vancouver and reflects some of the city’s most collectively embraced values: exuberance, expression, nature, and youth. The latter is especially important to the organization, as it is not only a presenter of shows, but a creator of opportunities for young performers. The number of careers and life-long relationships with art fostered on the Malkin Bowl stage are countless.
